About Zen Center
Zen Center of Pittsburgh is a Soto Zen Buddhist Temple founded in 1999. Zen Center serves the community by offering services, daily meditation and individualized Zen training with our Head Priest, Rev. Kyoki Roberts. Children are welcome. Deep Spring Temple is located just thirty minutes north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on fourteen isolated acres with stunning views of the Western Pennsylvania forests. We offer monthly retreats and for those who would like to investigate ordination, we offer residency training. We also run a mediation and facilitation service for spiritual communities and other nonprofits. Rev. Roberts is assisted by Senior Priest Rev. Jisen Coghlan.

Adverse Weather
Always check our calendar for the latest updates. As a general rule, if driving may be risky, don't do it. When it is snowing or sleeting, or if either snow or sleet are predicted to occur before or during zazen, you can assume that the zendo will be closed, particularly for 5:30 a.m. zazen.

Precept Renewal (Ryaku Fusatsu)
Thursday, February 9 6:00-7:00pm
|

|
Precept Renewal, or in Japanese Ryaku Fusatsu, is an ancient ceremony which includes the transmission of the bodhisattva (enlightened being) precepts. Participation in Ryaku Fusatsu offers us an opportunity to acknowledge all past actions (karma), to receive the precepts, and to re-dedicate ourselves to the practice of the Bodhisattva's way. We perform the ceremony at ZCP every month, on the Thursday evening nearest the full moon, to conform as close as we can to the ancient tradition. Please join us.

Thursday, March 1, 7pm – Sunday, March 4, 1pm, 2012, at the lovely Deep Spring Temple near Pittsburgh, PA. In this sesshin, we’ll commemorate the 22nd year memorial of Katagiri Roshi’s death. In that spirit, the focus will be to review the Buddhadharma (what is the essential point?) and to renew our practice. Dosho will give the dharma talks and offer dokusan. Please contact kyoki@deepspringzen.org for more information or to register.
Please register in advance for this sesshin by mail, in person, or via PayPal. |
