January is the beginning of a new project out of the Zen Center of Pittsburgh called An Olive Branch. During the first week of the New Year, a group will be trained at the Zen Center in mediation and facilitation. The training participants will then be available as part of An Olive Branch to provide a nationwide service for mediation and facilitation serving spiritual communities and other non-profits. Please note that our daily zazen schedule will be changed for the first week of January.
Wake-up: 5:45am
Morning zazen and service: 6:15am-7:15am
Evening zazen: 8:00pm
You are welcome to join us for zazen and service.
Throughout the winter months, please remember if it is snowing or predicted to snow we will be closed. Always check the calendar before driving out.
Jisen, Kyoki, and the Sangha of Deep Spring Temple thank you for your support in 2010. May 2011 be a year of great joy and deep peace for you and all those whose lives you touch each day.

ZEN PRACTICE:Earlier this year, Kyoki wrote a series of articles on beginning Zen practice. These are now available on the Zen Center of Pittsburgh webpage here. From time to time we all have questions regarding our spiritual practice. When this happens, we encourage you to meet with either Jisen ( jisen@deepspringzen.org) or Kyoki, ( kyoki@deepspringzen.org) for assistance. They are usually available Tuesday - Saturday 9:00am-4:00pm. Did you know that you can do a retreat at our temple and follow Kyoki's daily schedule?

ADDITIONS
We have two birth announcements this month!
Deep Spring Temple is very happy to announce the birth of Henry Andrew Tetlow, grandson of Leslie Hospodar. He was born December 12 at 9:36pm, 8 lbs 12 oz, 21.75 ins. "And the sweetest baby ever!!!"
We received the following announcement via email:
We are excited to the share the news that we are blessed with a baby boy named Tanvir which means Enlightened. Prajakta recently gave birth to a baby boy on December 16, 2010. At the time of birth he weighed about 7.15 pounds and 20.5 inches long. Both mom and the baby are doing fine. One of these days we plan to visit the temple with the baby and get a blessing. Simultaneously we are also looking forward to resuming our temple visits and practice which we couldn't due to pregnancy, birth and few other things.
We wanted to share this good news!
We wish you and all the Deep Spring Zen members a very happy new year!
Regards, Nagsen, Prajakta and Tanvir.
