WELCOME:March will be a busy month at the Zen Center of Pittsburgh. Following Katagiri-roshi's memorial day on March 1st is a sesshin with guest teacher, Rev. Dosho Port. He was last here in Pittsburgh for our Rohatsu Sesshin in December and will be speaking on "Continuous Practice" using the Genjo Koan. Rev. Port is our teacher's Dharma Uncle, meaning he trained with Rev. Nonin Chowaney under Rev. Katagiri in Minnesota. Please join us for shikantaza (just sitting) as well as koan introspection (sitting with a question) early this month. The following week is our annual Sangha meeting and Board meeting. All are welcome to participate in discussing and setting the future of our Zen Center. Each week we end our Sunday schedule with a vegetarian potluck lunch. Please come and bring your favorite dish to share!

Last year, Kyoki wrote a series of articles on beginning Zen practice. These are now available on the Zen Center of Pittsburgh web page here. From time to time we all have questions regarding our spiritual practice. When this happens, we encourage you to meet with either Jisen (jisen@deepspringzen.org) or Kyoki, (kyoki@deepspringzen.org) for assistance. They are usually available Tuesday - Saturday 9:00am-4:00pm.
Did you know that you can do a retreat at our temple and follow Kyoki's daily schedule? We also encourage you to learn a temple job as part of your spiritual life. Contact Kyoki or Jisen. |
